Fasting retreat at Bornholm

I was very privileged to be invited to participate in transformational fasting week at Bornholm as well as teaching yoga. I have for a long time wanted to fast for a longer period so I was very excited to for this adventure.

I have been fasting before however not in a combination with regular enema morning and evening. It is extremely cleansing and energising to give your intestines a break and only drink juice and vegetable broth. It felt very good to detox my body and to clean from the inside out.    

I was quite tired the first tree days however already after the 3rd day I felt a wave of energy coming over me and I felt extremely clear in my mind. I went for a walk in the forrest by my self and I was so surprised to find my self running as I had so much energy coming from within. The nature around Bornholm is breath taking and on one of my trips exploring the beautiful nature I found a beautiful branch, looking like a sculpture. I decided to bring it home with me and turn it in to a magical piece of 'crystal' art.

I was very surprised that I actually didn't really feel any hunger at all. It was even some times rather difficult to eat the Psyllium husks, as I felt so full. 

All juices and vegetable broths were served in a bowl with a spoon. Eating the liquids with spoon encouraged people to eat slowly, which makes it easier for the body to register when the body is full as well as helping to activate the saliva production in the mouth. It also helps the body to digest the food better when it enters the stomach.

We ate almost all of our meals in silent, which made the awareness of the food a lot more sharpened. That magnified the taste of the food a lot and I very much enjoyed to sit with my eyes closed and really taste the different flavours. I still very much like to eat my food with my eyes closed. It really has a huge impact on how you eat the food. 

Daily program

Straight after waking up:

Take two First cleans/morning tablets with a big glass of lemon water.

First Cleanse is a combination of different herbs, which stimulates the detoxification process in the body's seven channels of elimination : liver, lungs, colon , kidneys , skin and lymphatic system.

Dry brush your entire body.

Coffee enema.

Before 8:30 Two spoonful of Psyllium husks in a glas of water. Followed by two big glasses of water afterward.

7:30 Optional swim in the ocean.

8:30 - 10:00 Good morning check-in. Yoga or other form of movement.

10:00 Morning juice and 3 tablets of Spirulina.

11:00 - 12:00 Inquiry.

14:00 Afternoon juice and 3 tablets of Spirulina.

Between 14:30 - 17:30 Two spoonful of Psyllium husks in a glas of water. Followed by two big glasses of water afterward.

18:00-19:00 Soft yoga or other form of movement.

Before bedtime, camomile tea enema with the juice from half a lemon and take two First cleanse, Night tablets with some water.

Lemon is always juiced hole as citrus peels are high in powerful antioxidants called super-flavonoids which can contribute to reducing "bad" cholesterol levels. Lemons help stimulate your liver and helps flush out toxins like uric acid and also liquefies the bile as well as it contains 22 anti-cancer properties like limonine which slows the growth of tumors

According to a U.S. study, the antioxidants from these peels were 20 times more powerful than those from the juice.

Day 1 - Wednesday - Arrival

Welcome lunch juice

4 big handful of Stinging Nettle

1 Mango

40 gr Ginger

Evening Vegetable broth + dandelion extract shot

1 kg Potatoes

1 kg Onion

500g sweet Potatoes

1 big shopping bag full of Stinging Nettle, cleared of large stems.

3 big handful of Ramsons

 

Day 2 - Thursday

 

Morning Juice + dandelion extract shot.

3 kg Carrots

1 big ginger

4 broccoli

2,5 cucumber

2  whole Lemon

2 big handful mint

2 whole Turmeric

4 big handful Stinging nettle   

5 Grapefruit

 

Afternoon Juice

I love how we were using the herbs that was in the area. We all went out to harvest Stinging and Ramsons as there were growing a huge amount all around us. 

I was very suprised about how many benefits there is buy eating Stinging Nettle. A plant that people normally sees as weeds and want to clear their garden from completely. 

Stinging Nettle has a sooting effect on joints and arthritis pain. It contains a huge amount of iron, which is why the juice from it has a positive effect on anemia and pour circulation. Stinging Nettle also has a purifying effect on blood and often heightens the quality of the blood. It contains 7 times B-Vitamin as Beetroot, it contains 14 times more iron than Broccoli, 20 times as much C-vitamin as a celery stick and 13 times as much iron as Cucumber. 

I am deffinietly going to use Stining Nettle more in cooking as well as juicing. 

I can really recommend fasting. It boosts your energy and I was feeling very energetic and clear minded afterwords.
